ABSTRACT

Diversity is a fact of life; whether it is the ‘spice’ or the ‘irritant’ to people is the fundamental psychological, social, cultural and political issue of our times. The study of diversity both at home and abroad has been the focus of my academic life. It is not at all clear to me whether this was a conscious choice; perhaps it just allowed me to pursue my two core values of hedonism and social activism simultaneously, in the guise of a respectable academic career. This chapter provides an opportunity to search for answers, and possibly a justification.
