ABSTRACT

The history of metal studwork and lath dates back to the first quarter of this century when cold-formed sheet steel began to be used for roofmg components and decking. At the same time cold-formed steel profiles and pressed sections were developed to serve as cladding rails, purlins and trim. One of the earhest applications was at Hollywood, USA and Boreham Wood, UK where render on metal lath and studwork was the method adopted for the basic fireproof construction of film studios.
