ABSTRACT
Metal faced doors have been made since the end of the Stone Age; the main gate of Mycenae had bronze-faced pivoted doors, with solid rebated jambs. The original hollow cast bronze doors at the Pantheon (AD 124) are still in working order (Fig. 32.1) and their pivot mechanism resembles that at Mycenae.
