ABSTRACT

Corrugated iron is one of the earliest applications of sheet iron, the patent dating back to 1829. In the last century it became the principal cladding material for the iron building frames and trusses which were exported throughout the world and in many parts it remains a common sight. Corrugated iron has now been largely superseded by steel products, although it still formed a common roofing material in Finland at the beginning of the 1980s. The trends in the total roofing market for that country are shown in Table 5.1.
