ABSTRACT

The informant sipped her tea and presented herself: “I am Dutch of half-Indonesian descent and I work as a nurse; my husband is Iranian and an architect. He fled from Iran shortly after the Islamic revolution and is now a Canadian citizen. We have a house in Toronto, but for the last year my husband has been working for the government of Kenya, so at present we live in Nairobi, where I also easily found work. Our daughter is studying engineering at Stanford in California, and our son is spending his year of service at the Baha’i World Centre in Israel”. She laughed a little: “That’s a typical Baha’i family, isn’t it?”
