ABSTRACT
Aggression is a social act and as such is carried out within a group setting. Groups can either facilitate aggression or inhibit the expression of aggression. Regardless of which of the dominant theories of aggression is better in explaining human aggression, one must study the relation of group culture and structure to the incidence of aggression within the group. In particular, to understand the process through which interpersonal violence on television might stimulate violent behavior, one must understand how group structure promotes or inhibits the imitation of media violence.
