ABSTRACT

Being healthy is important for each person. Each stage of life asks for specific health needs as well as health services. This includes the protection against infectious diseases and injuries as well as against emerging non-infectious diseases as diabetes, coronary diseases and cancer. Globally estimated for 2008, 60 percent of deaths were attributed to non-infectious diseases and 9 percent due to injuries (due to unintentional accidents as well as to intentional violence). Of the 60 percent who deceased due to non-infectious diseases, only 20 percent occurred in high-income countries (WHO 2011).
