ABSTRACT
The international trade in waste is increasing. In the case of the EU, the export of ‘notified waste’ increased from 6.3 million tons in 2001 to 11.4 million tons in 2009 (Figure 6.1). 1 A large share of the total flows is represented by intra-EU flows (both notified and non-notified waste) although extra-EU flows are increasing.
