ABSTRACT

Today the Arabian Gulf and its littoral are the scene of great economic developments and activities, this associated with the wealth of oil and natural gas found beneath the sea and its shores. The study of the geology and geomorphology of this region has in great part been encouraged by the quest for oil, but many aspects of such study are significant for other reasons, particularly those investigations concerned with the more recent geomorphological history of the Gulf. In this chapter a brief overview of these latter investigations is first attempted, followed by a summary statement of one particular relevant piece of research.
