ABSTRACT
Professor Michael Billig is one of the most original, provocative and infl uential thinkers in British social science. Initially trained as an experimental social psychologist, his work resists conventional disciplinary boundaries and his scholarly writings on topics including fascism, nationalism, the unconscious and humour are as familiar to linguistics, sociologists, historians and cultural theorists as they are to social psychologists.
