Regional Innovation Strategies: The Key Challenge for Castilla y León as One of Europe's Less-Favoured Regions

With its 94,224 square kilometres, Castilla y León is the largest region in Spain and indeed in the entire European Union. It accounts for 18.65 per cent of the surface area of Spain, and a full 4 per cent of the EU, some of whose member countries (notably Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Luxemburg, Holland and Portugal) are smaller in size than this region.
