ABSTRACT
In industrial societies ‘work’ or paid employment, is a fundamental component of the lives of most individuals. It confers status upon them and helps them to establish economic security, social networks and a stake in the general prosperity and development of the nation. Its converse, unemployment or non-employment, brings with it financial, social and psychological difficulties.
