ABSTRACT
When some secondary school students were asked recently about the practical work which they carry out during their science course, one of them replied ‘The practical makes it more interesting. Doing something yourself, exploring yourself, you feel in control more. It all slots into place when you've got the results and you plot the graph. It makes you more confident, getting things right.’
