ABSTRACT
The status of information technology (IT) within the National Curriculum is enhanced by a new emphasis upon the use of IT within all areas of the curriculum. Pupils are now given opportunities to use IT tools to solve problems and to support their learning. IT skills are introduced within a context which will help them understand how information impacts upon the commercial and industrial world and the home. There is an expectation that all children will become familiar with a range of IT applications and will develop the skills necessary to use them.
