ABSTRACT
Every child begins life with powerful potential light just waiting to be switched on into the smiling glow of achievement: and as teachers, our deep and lasting professional satisfaction comes from our experiences of seeing children manifesting this latent potential through a wide range of abilities. The greatest gifts we can give the children in our care are the skills of learning how to learn and perform with joy, independence and autonomy. How can we ever know how many hearts and minds we have touched forever, and how much of ourselves is stored in the memories of the thousands of children who pass through our classrooms?
