ABSTRACT
From the mid-1980s until 1996 Thailand experienced a period of remarkable economic growth and structural change. This final chapter places these developments in the broader historical, national and international context, and reviews the issues and prospects for the sustainability of the present pattern of development. The question of the sustainability of Thailand’s economic growth was brought into sharp relief by the 1997 financial crisis.
