ABSTRACT
Casetti defined the expansion method as follows: The expansion method is a procedure whereby a terminal model is generated from an initial one by making the parameters of the latter functions of some variables’ (1972:82). This definition includes not only the expansion of the parameters of an initial model by expansion equations, but potentially also the extension, modification, and metamorphoses of the conceptual framework of the initial model.
