ABSTRACT
Two important concepts embodied within recent Children’s Acts in the UK have been informed by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: namely, the right to protection and the right to participation for children and young people. Protection includes safety from neglect, abuse, discrimination and exploitation, and participation includes giving children and young people a voice and the opportunity to participate in decisions which affect them.
