ABSTRACT

Coastal planning is now a necessity and a daily practice. It must be organized inside a real policy and according to elaborate principles and laws, and, from a European point of view, it cannot be conceived as a side-by-side series of national jurisdictional systems. So it would be useful to see whether the EC tried to have its own lawful organization, and to compare that organization with decisions from its members. This chapter aims at making this comparison with the French attitude only, for it would take too long to do the same with all twelve countries.
