ABSTRACT
The main aim of this chapter is to analyse the historical preconditions of the European Works Council (EWC) Directive in the light of corporatist theory. Being a historian, I want to emphasise the temporal dimension, that is, a historicity embracing everything and everybody, including political scientists.
