ABSTRACT
Many teachers, particularly in primary schools, are unaware of the school’s role in reinforcing sex role stereotypes, and reluctant to admit the part their own attitudes and behaviour can play in the process. This poses problems for the feminist researcher who wants to promote anti-sexist practice in school while preserving the autonomy of the teacher in her classroom.
