ABSTRACT

Previous studies of ball kick technique have focused on the kicking leg (Roberts and Metcalfe, 1968). Most of these studies have been concerned with instep kicks, and even though the technique of curve kicking is frequently used to spin the ball and bend the trajectory, there have been relatively few studies on the curve kick in football (Wang and Griffin, 1997 and Asai et al., 1998). The first part of this study, therefore, examines the curve kick using computer simulations of the interaction between the foot and the ball, focusing on the generation of spin.
