ABSTRACT

Figure 3 shows that any individual player, as any of the two teams in a soccer game, is always “positive” and “negative” at the same time and space (like “Yin” and “Yang”!), simultaneously “offensive” and “defensive”, “cooperative” and “opposing”, in every game situation. So, attack and counter-attack are two sides of the same “coin”. The difference is to be found in the “initial conditions” of each phase:- more stable initial conditions in attack; more unstable initial conditions in counter-attack. Remember, complex systems have great “sensibility to initial conditions”.
