ABSTRACT

Whittington’s research signals the importance of ‘commitment and expertise of faculty and visiting teachers’ and also identifying the ‘conceptions of collaborative practice and professional or interprofessional identity the course seeks to develop’ (2003a: 5). These factors are linked, as commitment is needed for staff to give the time and energy to explore collaboration and values. Staff development opportunities, timetabled peer support and development groups will enable staff to develop their skills and confidence.
