ABSTRACT

It would be very easy to assume that faith-based schools are to be considered only in societies where there is peaceful co-existence. The current experiences in the Middle East highlight the serious concerns of faith-based schools in a region of conflict-especially religious and political conflict. The faith-based schools there raise questions about whether peace is an ultimate objective of social transformation. Peace may not be an end in itself but a means of expressing harmony between our fellow human beings. It is a way of being which dignifies each person and which promotes a life of care and celebration of the goodness of God.
