ABSTRACT

While the developed world moves swiftly towards a knowledge society where the abilities to use and process information become ever more important (OECD, 2002) many developing countries are finding it hard to keep pace. They are struggling with their economies and human resources to bridge a digital and cultural gap that is threatening the future of their new generations, but which seems to be relentlessly widening as time passes. This chapter offers an overview of the Enlaces (Links) programme, which is the information and communication (ICT) in education programme of the Chilean Ministry of Education.
