ABSTRACT

Since the first official examinations in 1970, the IB Diploma Programme has become a widely recognized qualification giving access to higher education and equipping students with the skills they will need for the future. From its headquarters in Geneva and its other major offices in Cardiff, New York, Buenos Aires, and Singapore, the IB Organization (IBO) administers a programme which has provided an important educational service to students displaced around the world, initially in international schools. It has also attracted the attention of a number of governments who find in the structure, pedagogy and philosophy of the IB an interesting model to contemplate during periods of national educational reform. The IBO is regularly involved in projects and consultation with UNESCO, both at its Paris headquarters and with field offices.
