ABSTRACT

In addition, this book is designed to help established teachers who wish to develop their practice. Those who are currently using patient-and student-centred approaches in their particular field will be able to gain perspective, encouragement and stimulation from the various chapters that advocate that practice. Those who currently use more traditional teaching methods will find a range of ideas to expand their repertoire; Chapter 6 on interactive lecturing is a good place to start.

Learning from others While medical, dental and veterinary education have many overlapping features, they have also developed in different ways and have their own distinctive features. The editors and chapter authors of this book are drawn from these three interrelated subject areas and it is hoped that their writings and experiences will offer the reader from one area new ideas for application from another. A number of authors are from outside the United Kingdom so that although the emphasis is on UK-based MDV education, and reference is made to particular UK bodies such as the General Medical Council, an international perspective is also present.
