ABSTRACT

Some key outcomes for working together from policy to practice in health and social care are reviewed from both a national and international viewpoint, which leads to questions on evidence-based care and evaluation. The issues consider present-day terminology, professional perspectives and user views. The place of accountability, costs and boundaries are then brought into focus. The final section looks at ways forward for interprofessional collaboration through management perspectives, innovative ways of working and new initiatives, concluding with the place of service users in the twenty-first century.
