ABSTRACT
Is the East Midlands a region? Many people within the region obviously do not think so or there would be no need for campaigns such as the Great East Midlands Campaign (https://www.gemcampaign.org.uk/), which is dedicated to raising the profile of the region, or for East Midlands Airport to change its name to Nottingham East Midlands Airport so that people, both within the region and abroad, know where it is (Nottingham Evening Post, 4 July 2003 and 20 January 2004).
