ABSTRACT

What can education and training do to improve equality of opportunity in housing? What should the aims of such intervention be? There are a number of possible aims which can be summarised in three main areas:

• to establish an understanding of how prejudice and discrimination function to influence life-chances and housing outcomes;

• to demonstrate effective ways in which the housing service can respond to equality issues;

• to enable women working in the housing service as employees, committee members or volunteers to develop their potential in relation to that work and improve access to such opportunities.
