ABSTRACT

Attempts to provide playground activities had not been successful because of a lack of supervision. There were not adequate staff to cover both yards and the dining room. Other interventions included The Heartstone Odyssey. Sandra commented, however, that children with special needs did not participate in The Heartstone Odyssey because they were in a composite class for this period. She also said that Quality Circle work would prove difficult with children with learning difficulties because:

you are dealing with children who are two or three years behind in terms of their learning difficulties, and you are actually dealing with top nursery children in terms of mental ability and they are very egocentric and those sorts of concepts are very difficult to get across.
