ABSTRACT

Refusing art on culture’s terms, they seek to resite it elsewhere. And the visual arts necessarily want to draw us towards and suspend us over this abyss of the visual without the conceptual crutches of either the appropriating technical discourses or common sense. This is the promise of their pleasure and their transforming potential: to enable us to ‘see’ our relations to others, nature-culture, and ourselves, differently-to draw us into their own elsewhere.
