ABSTRACT

The Internet is an important place for finding a partner in Sweden today.1 But finding a partner through Internet dating is not something that happens instantaneously. For those looking and longing for a partner, the search is a process that extends over time. In this study I focus on the hope and search for a partner on one particular Swedish Internet dating site. The participants' emotional experiences of Internet dating practiced over time are studied through email interviews with participants at one point in time. Hence, Internet daters are defined as the responding participants active on the Internet dating site at the moment of my data collection.
