ABSTRACT
I would like to suggest that the exciting new direction for supervision is that it is moving to becoming a discipline in its own right, moving away from being tied to a specific counselling orientation, developing theory and frameworks that separate it from counselling, using some of the same but some different skills. Alongside this, there is an increasing demand for a high standard of supervision to help develop and maintain good standards of counselling. What are the influences that energise this movement?
