ABSTRACT
In this chapter psychosocial transitions are considered, using the writing of Parkes (1971) and Golan (1981) as a theory base. The contrast is drawn between normal developmental transitions in the family life cycle and transitions which demand a substantial re-ordering of the individual’s life. The impact of such crises on family functioning is examined.
