ABSTRACT
The following chapter explores limitations of the cultural constructionist approach to emotion.1 It does so through a reading of sources drawn primarily from anthropology. Although narrow in a disciplinary sense, the concentration on the anthropological literature is valuable, in that it allows a more direct consideration of how the culture concept itself is directly implicated in the limitations of constructionist treatments of emotion so influential in both anthropology and sociology.2
