ABSTRACT

Public donations have, historically, supported everything from monmental buildings, schools and hospitals, the Crusades and the emergence of modern charities for ‘the relief of suffering’. Fundraising is not an optional extra, but is fundamental to the existence of many voluntary bodies. It is about the possible, always looking at new ways to persuade your fellow citizen to give. Fundraising practice is constantly changing and developing, and has its external influences, basic principles that underlie its practice; and different techniques.
