ABSTRACT
Europe is poised at a great turning point in history. As the millennium approaches, the European Union-one of the world’s greatest trading blocs-has enlarged to incorporate Austria, Finland and Sweden, and is now looking eastwards towards Central Europe for more possible member states with the Mediterranean coast of North Africa also being mentioned as a possible addition to the European family.
