ABSTRACT
The advances in science and technology of Taiwan, and of other East Asian newly emerging economies-Korea, Singapore and Hong Kongillustrate one of the main themes of this book: the high learning capacity of the peoples in the area with deep Chinese culture. The speed of their technological advances during this period is perhaps the most rapid in history. The various ways in which this was accomplished provide important lessons for developing countries throughout the world.
