ABSTRACT

In this chapter we focus upon language-based topics in which the work is primarily concerned with reading and writing. Our intention is to provide you with suggestions from which you can plan individual lessons as part of a coherent programme. Clearly, speaking and listening will be an integral part of many of these activities and will underpin them. You will also need to consider what assessment opportunities the activities provide as assessment is an integral part of planning and teaching. Enquiry tasks are designed to provide suggestions for the ways you can plan and teach the English curriculum in your classroom. To begin with, we focus on planning.
