ABSTRACT
Machiavelli had six children. His last direct descendent, Francesco Machiavelli, died in 1727 leaving the heritage of his name and possessions to his cousin, the Marquis Giovanni Battista Rangoni. Subsequently, the Rangoni family added the name of Machiavelli to its own. Niccolò’s estate-a palace on the Lungarno in Florence, the Castle of Bibbione and surrounding farmlandsbelongs to the Rangoni Machiavelli family to this day.
