ABSTRACT

It needs to be acknowledged from the outset that, in this era which is high on both complexity and rate of change, there is a need for high levels of both leadership and management in striving to develop and maintain world-class organisations. Hence, there is little point in debating the virtue of one versus the other, or even bothering to dwell greatly on defining the difference between them, even though Kotter (1990) does this very neatly through the analysis illustrated in Table 7.1.
