ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I look at the ethical dimension of leadership that needs to be at the heart of a school or college, how that dimension might be achieved, and how a school or college might operate if it follows logically and consistently the demands of that ethical imperative. Let us begin by establishing how the term ‘ethics’ is being used in this book. The Concise Encyclopedia of Philosophy (Craig 2000: 256) states:
What is ethics? First, the systems of value and custom instantiated in the lives of particular groups of human beings are described as the ethics of these groups.
