ABSTRACT

Central to most publications on business and the natural environment is the notion of change from current, largely unsustainable business practices to more environmentally responsible ones. This process is often called ‘corporate greening’. But while the need for change is almost unanimously acknowledged, the means by which such change is to be achieved are less obvious or uncontroversial. Yet, these means of achieving the desired change are clearly important if progress in making human economic activity more ecologically sustainable is to be made.
