ABSTRACT

Visual images proliferate within educational contexts and are accessible across a range of media: in print, via the Web, in learning resources and multimedia software. The increased ease of access to images has been mirrored by an increase in their use within all sectors of education. However, it is evident from recent research (BBLT, 2000; FILTER, 2000; PICTIVA, 2000) that there is a need for documentation on how to make the best use of images within learning and teaching resources.
