ABSTRACT

In this part of the book the authors have outlined issues surrounding the storage, retrieval and reuse of a variety of resource types. In this chapter we will focus on the development and implementation of question banks. The importance of assessment on student learning is well documented, but it not only drives student learning (Biggs, 1999) it also validates institutional existence. Computer-assisted assessment and objective tests are one of many methods that can be used to achieve the effective assessment of learning outcomes. Banks of objective test questions offer great potential for repeatedly creating flexible, customized, unique and tailored formative and summative assessments. In this chapter we propose a model for sharing and reusing assessment material through question banks.
