ABSTRACT
In the decade between the death of Joan Robinson and the appointment of Victoria Chick in 1993, there were no female professors of economics in the UK. Her interest in the position of women in academia was influenced not only by her own career progression, but also by her own experience, as well as that of other female students (Chick 1992: 81). We analyse the position of women in academia with this in mind.
