ABSTRACT
Scientific associations of economists are a very recent phenomenon in Spain, although there are notable historic precedents. In this chapter we present a panorama of the institutions and organisations that served as a channel for scientific communication and debate within the group of authors and professors of economics from the end of the eighteenth century to 1914. The scarcity of previous studies on these subjects has obliged us to complete the scattered information available with our own inquiries into primary sources.
