ABSTRACT

Life is the great vehicle that carries us through time. In observing the passing landscape from our particular space on the deck of that great vehicle, we come to know what we know of the world. It is a complex journey that for each one of us moves simultaneously on a diversity of paths. In this chapter I recount a voyage of learning and encounter, of observation and discovery, of disenchantment and dissent, in traversing the spaces of thought on economics qua discipline, in the formulation and experience of economic policy, in confrontation with and learning from encounters with economic realities. I offer it not as an account of what I did, but only of what I saw and learned of economics in the doing.
